
Penguins Ride Seven-Game Winning Streak Into New Year's Eve

The Penguins extended their season-high winning streak to seven games with a 5-2 win against the Binghamton Senators on December 29 (Dec. 15-29). The last time the Penguins won seven consecutive games was from October 14-28, 2006.
The Pens have also recorded points in eight consecutive games, dating back to a 2-1 shootout loss to the Worcester Sharks on December 14. The last time they picked up points in eight straight was Dec. 2-23, 2006 (6-0-1-1)
The team record for longest winning streak is nine games, set from Oct. 5-29, 2005.
UPCOMING ACTION:
Monday, December 31 vs. Norfolk - 6:05pm: The Penguins (19-12-0-1, 39 points, third place in East Division) play host to the Admirals (10-21-1-2, 23 points, seventh place in East Division) for the second time this season. The Pens have not dropped a regular season home decision to the Admirals since Feb. 14, 2005, a string of 16 games. Norfolk enters tonight's contest with an eight-game losing streak.
Wednesday, January 2 vs. Syracuse 7:05pm: The Pens and Crunch (17-18-1-1, 36 points, third in North Division) meet for the third time in an eight-day span, with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton posting a perfect 4-0-0-0 mark against Syracuse this season.
Friday, January 4 @ Toronto - 7:30pm: The Penguins make their lone trip this season to Toronto to face the North Division leading Marlies (22-6-0-4, 48 points). Wilkes-Barre/Scranton posted a 3-2 shootout victory at home against the Marlies on November 2.

...AND SEVEN IN A ROW FOR BRENT AND SMITH - Penguins forwards Tim Brent (3-10-13) and Nathan Smith (4-6-10) both carry seven-game point streaks into tonight's game against Norfok. Brent also has a seven-game assist streak.
MAC ON THE ATTACK - Penguins forward Kurtis McLean has five goals in his past six games, and has recorded the game-winning goal in three of the Pens' past six victories (Dec. 16 @ Philadelphia; Dec. 22 vs. Albany; Dec. 26 vs. Syracuse). McLean has 10 points (5+5) in his past seven games, which is three points and one goal better than his totals from the first 22 games he played in this year.
NIFTY NETMINDING - The rookie tandem of John Curry and David Brown has put up impressive numbers during the month of December.
Curry has appeared in six games during the month, posting a 4-1-1 record, a 1.48 goals against average (9 goals against, 363:49mp) and a .939 save percentage (9 goals/146 saves). He recorded his first AHL shutout with a 20 save performance against Syracuse on December 26. For the season, the former Boston University backstopper has a 5-3-1 record with a 1.87 goals against average and .926 save percentage.
Brown made his AHL debut on December 7, dropping a 5-2 decision to the Hershey Bears. Since then he has gone 3-0-0 and stopped 89 of 95 shots he has faced. A standout at Notre Dame, he has a 3-1-0 record with a 2.75 goals against average and .912 save percentage in four AHL contests.
KILLING TIME - Wilkes-Barre/Scranton has stopped 35 of the past 38 power play attempts they have faced during their eight-game point streak (92.1%). The Pens now rank sixth in the league in penalty killing at 86.0% (147 of 171).
