
Penguins Recall Mannino, Hartzell Assigned to Wheeling

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today goaltender Peter Mannino has been recalled from loan to the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL). In addition, goaltender Eric Hartzell has been assigned to Wheeling by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Mannino has appeared in three contests this season for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, going 1-1-0 with a 3.40 goals against average and a .877 save percentage. In six games this year with Wheeling, he has posted a 3-3-0 record, a 2.29 GAA and a .926 save percentage.
A sixth-year pro, Mannino has played a total of 162 AHL contests and compiled a career record of 82-53-8 with four shutouts, a 2.84 GAA and a .905 save percentage. The 30-year old has also appeared in six NHL games with the New York Islanders, Atlanta Thrashers and Winnipeg Jets and skated in 37 ECHL games with the Utah Grizzlies, Chicago Express and Wheeling.
Hartzell, 24, began the 2013-14 season with the Nailers and went 2-2-1 with one shutout, a 2.58 GAA and a .922 save percentage. Assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on October 30, the rookie netminder has since registered a record of 10-7-1 with a 2.30 goals against average, a .908 save percentage and three shutouts. He was named AHL/CCM Goaltender of the Month in January.
Hartzell was named USA Hockey College Player of the Year in 2013 as he helped Quinnipiac University reach the NCAA championship game after leading the Bobcats to the school's first-ever Frozen Four appearance this past spring at CONSOL Energy Center. The native of White Bear, Minnesota was also a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award after posting a 30-7-5 record, 1.57 goals-against average and .933 save percentage in 42 starts.
The Penguins begin a five-game road swing this Friday night when they travel to Syracuse to face the Crunch at 7:00pm
