Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - Matt Taormina tallied twice and Anders Lindback made 30 saves to lead the Syracuse Crunch to a 4-0 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at the OnCenter on Friday night. The win was the third in a row for the Crunch (21-23-4-5, 51 points, fifth in East Division), while the Penguins (29-20-3-4, 65 points, fourth in East Division) saw their three-game point streak snapped.

The Crunch wasted little time in getting on the board, as Tanner Richard beat Jeff Deslauriers 2:02 into the game with the eventual game-winning goal.

Taormina picked up his first goal of the evening with 42 seconds remaining in the first frame, and grabbed his second of the game 5:23 into the second period, chasing Deslauriers from the game.

Drew Olson welcomed Peter Mannino to the game by picking up his third goal of the season just 1:27 after the Penguins' backup took to the ice.

Lindback, currently in Syracuse on a conditioning stint from Tampa Bay, participated in his first AHL contest since January 7, 2012, and picked up his first career AHL shutout in the process.

The Penguins continue their five-game road trip tomorrow afternoon in Atlantic City, where they face the Albany Devils at 5:00pm.
