Penguins, Nailers swap players

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have recalled goaltender Andy Franck and forward Sean Collins from the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL, it was announced Thursday by Penguins CEO Jeff Barrett. Additionally, goaltender Andy Chiodo and left wing Daniel Carcillo have been reassigned to Wheeling by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Franck, 24, has posted a 17-7-1 record with a 2.30 goals against average, .911 save percentage and two shutouts thus far with Wheeling. He currently ranks fifth in the ECHL in goals against average and tied for second in wins.
Franck also stopped seven of eight shots he faced for the American squad at the ECHL All-Star Game Wednesday night in Fresno, CA.
A native of Lakewood, OH, Franck spent three seasons at Mercyhurst College, where he posted a career record of 43-26-5 with four shutouts and a 3.12 goals against average in 81 games with the Lakers.
Collins, 22, is second in the ECHL and leads the Nailers with 50 points (16+34) in 39 games this season, while his 34 assists are third in the league. He was named a starter in the ECHL All-Star Game this season.
A native of Reading, MA, Collins led the University of New Hampshire with 56 points (19-37) in 42 games last season, helping the Wildcats to a 26-11-5 record and a spot in the NCAA Northeast Regional Final. He finished fifth overall in scoring among Division I skaters and was tied for second in assists. His 28 points (11-17) in Hockey East action placed him tied fifth in the conference.
A 5-9, 170 pound forward, Collins finished in the top four on the school's scoring list during each of his four seasons with New Hampshire, and finished his collegiate career with 173 points (77-96) in 164 games. His 77 career goals place him tied for 10th on the Wildcats' all-time list, while his 173 points put him in a tie for 12th with current Pittsburgh Penguins center Eric Boguniecki.
Chiodo, 22, has appeared in two games with the Penguins this season, going 1-1-0 with a 4.50 goals against average. In 14 games with the Nailers, he has posted an 8-4-1 record with a 3.19 goals against average and .884 save percentage.
Selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the seventh round (199th overall) of the 2003 Entry Draft, Chiodo has appeared in 68 games in parts of three seasons with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, posting a 28-30-4 record with six shutouts and a 2.68 goals against average. He has also appeared in eight games with Pittsburgh, going 3-4-1 with a 3.46 goals against average.
Carcillo, 20, has appeared in 38 games with the Penguins this season, recording 20 points (9+11), a plus-8 rating and 232 penalty minutes. Pittsburgh's third round choice (73rd overall) in the 2003 Entry Draft has also recorded four points (2+2) and 26 penalty minutes in three games with the Nailers this season.
