Lingren and Taylor tip the All Star scales

Victoria, BC - The ECHL All Star Game finished in full form in Fresno tonight with Victoria Salmon Kings players Steve Lingren and Adam Taylor leading the way to a 7-6 victory for the National Conference.

Taylor, in his first All-Star appearance, sparked the first goal of the night by setting up Stockton Thunder's Mike Lalonde with a dazzling cross ice pass, which gave the National Conference a 1-0 lead at 12:36 into the first period.

The score was 2-2 at 12:58 into second, until the the 22-year old Forward Taylor spotted Alex Leavitt of the Alaska Aces, who rippled the mesh and scored the only goal of the period. Taylor, who was born in Campbell River BC but calls Courtenay BC his hometown, earned his second assist of the night and the National Conference took a 3-2 lead.

A little over half way into the third period the National Conference held a 6-4 lead, until Captain of the National Conference squad and Victoria Salmon Kings Veteran Steve Lingren fired a shot top shelf to beat American Conference and Charlotte Checkers Goaltender Jeff Glass. Taylor also snagged another assist in the play. The goal by third time All Star Lingren was the game winner as the American Conference added two goals with less than two minutes left in the game.

Lingren finished with a goal, and Taylor finished with three assists and a plus/minus rating of +3.

Watch Lingren and Taylor and the rest of the Victoria Salmon Kings in action at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre as they take on the Phoenix Roadrunners Friday and Saturday night. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
