FRESNO, CA - Florida Everblades All-Star representatives chipped in two points for the American Conference squad, but it wasn't enough as the National Conference picked up a 7-6 win in front of a crowd of 7,667 at the 2006 Bud Light ECHL All-Star Game.
Ernie Hartlieb scored a first period goal that cut the National Conference lead to 2-1 late in the first period, and Dan Sisca added an assist on Scott Bertoli's goal 11 minutes into the third period.
The game was a low-scoring affair over the first 40 minutes, with the National Conference carrying a 3-2 lead into the third period. In the final period each team scored four goals, including the American Conference storming back to trim a 7-4 National lead to 7-6 with two goals in the final 1:17 of regulation. Despite their best efforts, with the goaltender pulled, the American Conference squad couldn't find the equalizer.
The All-Star Game MVP went to Luke Curtin of the host Fresno Falcons after turning in two goals, both coming in the first 43 seconds of the third period to open a 5-2 National Conference lead at the time. The American Conference team out-shot the National squad 43-25 and the game featured no penalties.
A replay of the game will be broadcast tonight beginning at 5:00 p.m. on the OLN Network.
