FRESNO, Calif. - Jesse Bennefield earned an assist Wednesday night, helping the National Conference to a 7-6 win in the 2006 ECHL All-Star Game presented by Bud Light, before 7,667 at the Save Mart Center.
Bennefield's helper came on the second goal of the game, as Phoenix's Shawn Snider beat Johnstown's Jonathan Boutin 14:47 into the opening period. The Gulls All-Star won the Reebok Hockey Fastest Skater in the Skills Competition Tuesday night.
Hometown hero Luke Curtin of the Fresno Falcons was awarded MVP honors after delighting the crowd with a two-goal performance, both tallies coming in the third period.
Stockton netminder Jake Moreland was the only back-stop to not allow a goal, as he turned aside all 12 American Conference shots in the second period.
The National Conference out-shot the American Conference 43-26. No penalties were called.
