Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release

- RHP Justin Grimm (3-2, 3.49) at LHP T.J. House (6-9, 4.50) -

ROLL TIDE: University of Alabama product Vinny DiFazio posted his first career multi-homer game in Tuesday's series opener at Kinston. With two aboard in the top of the first, the Pelicans' catcher cranked a three-run homer out to left-center field to stake his team to a 3-0 lead, and three innings later, he ripped a solo shot to make it a 4-0 Pelicans advantage. Both homers came off Kinston's Marty Popham. DiFazio entered Tuesday with four homers and 17 runs batted in and departed with two and four more respectively.

ONE-MAN WRECKING CREW: DiFazio outscored the Indians on his own Tuesday night, driving in four runs to Kinston's three in a 5-3 Pelicans win. Beyond that, though, Vinny's offensive heroics went deeper. DiFazio's offensive output also outpaced the Pelicans' previous five-game total of three runs. Myrtle Beach dropped the last two games of its three-game road series with Wilmington by a combined 6-2 score on July 10 and 11, and the Pelicans were outscored 9-1 in a three-game sweep at the hands of the Frederick Keys from July 22-24.

BOS-CAN DO: Pelicans starter Wilfredo Boscan was perfect through four innings Tuesday night at Kinston. The right-hander struck out three men while retiring the first 12 he faced before Jeremie Tice's leadoff single in the fifth. After Jesus Aguilar walked behind Tice, Boscan whiffed the next three Indians to face the only major threat on the night against him in the Pelicans' eventual 5-3 series-opening win.
