Indians Surge ahead in Seventh to Earn 5-3 Win

Kinston scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh, storming ahead for a 5-3 win over Myrtle Beach Wednesday morning at Historic Grainger Stadium.
Tyler Holt walked to start things for Kinston in the bottom of the first inning. He advanced to second base on a ground-out, then stole third. It was Holt's 26th stolen bag of the season. Holt would score on Adam Abraham's ground out. It was the team leading 49th RBI of the year from Abraham. Myrtle Beach came back a half inning later, when an errant throw on a ground ball from Zach Zaneski started the inning. A double by Ryan Strausborger got Zaneski to third base. A sacrifice fly by David Paisano would tie the score at one.
Myrtle Beach took a brief lead when Strausborger walked in the fourth inning and advanced to third thanks to a Santiago Chirino double. Strausborger scored on another RBI out by Paisano. Kinston tied it a half inning later when Jeremie Tice led off the fourth with a double and scored on an RBI single from Casey Frawley. The score stay tied a two until the top of the seventh inning. With Kinston starting pitcher T.J. House still on the mound, Leury Garcia started the frame with a walk. After stealing second base, he advanced to third on a ground out. He scored on a sacrifice fly from Travis Adair. House exited shortly after, giving up three runs (two earned) on six hits in 6 2/3 innings. He walked three and struck out three.
Myrtle Beach starter Justin Grimm was in line for the win after throwing six strong innings, giving up six hits and two earned runs. His relief did not prove to be as strong. With Ryan Kelly on the mound Kinston got on the comeback trail. Tyler Cannon singled, then scored from first base on a double by Doug Pickens. With the score tied at three, Delvi Cid loaded the bases by getting plunked with a pitch. With two-outs in the inning, Jordan Casas gave the Indians a 4-3 lead with a run scoring single. Kinston added insurance in the eighth inning, as Tice drew a walk and was replaced on the bases by Justin Toole. Toole got to second with a stolen base, but was still there with two outs in the inning. After a Tyler Cannon walk, Doug Pickens played the role of hero again with an RBI single.
Kinston bullpen took over from there, with Kyle Landis (6-0) picking up the win and Preston Guilmet getting his 27th save of the season.
