Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Waterloo, Iowa - Veteran Waterloo Black Hawks forward Liam Pecararo recently committed to Northeastern University in Boston, signaling an eventual return to Hockey East conference play.

The 19-year-old is in his third season with the Black Hawks. He is on pace to become the 25th Waterloo player during the team's junior era to record 100 regular season points. Pecararo - a member of the Hawks' 2013/14 Anderson Cup-winning combination - has played in 108 USHL games, recording 35 goals and 58 assists. Although limited to just 18 appearances so far in 2015/16, he is averaging better than a point-per-game with seven goals and 12 assists.

A native of Canton, Massachusetts, Pecararo spent the winter of 2014/15 skating as a freshman at the University of Maine. He had three goals and six assists in 25 games for the Black Bears. His time in Orono was highlighted by winning the Hockey East Rookie of the Week award on November 3rd after recording three points during a weekend sweep of conference rival Massachusetts.

Already familiar with the Hockey East landscape, Pecararo will join a Northeastern program which currently includes former Black Hawk Trevor Owens. Fellow Hawks forward Brandon Schultz is also committed to play for the Huskies. Among other current Waterloo players, David Cotton (Boston College) and Cale Morris (Notre Dame) are also committed to Hockey East institutions.

Sixteen players on the 2015/16 Waterloo Black Hawks roster now have an NCAA Division I college commitment.
