Sacramento River Cats News Release

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento MVP candidate Eric Patterson belted a two-run homer and two-run single in the River Cats' 10-9 victory over the New Orleans Zephyrs on Monday night at Raley Field. It was Chris Denorfia, however, who provided the go-ahead run for Sacramento on a fielder's choice in the seventh inning. Brad Kilby pitched a scoreless eighth and Sam Demel earned his second save with a scoreless ninth to close the back-and-forth affair.

Sacramento trailed 7-4 before Patterson and Eric Munson each belted two-run homers in a five-run fourth inning that put Sacramento ahead 9-7. New Orleans tied it at 9-9 with a run in the sixth and seventh before Denorfia put Sacramento ahead in the bottom of the seventh with a grounder to shortstop that Andy Gonzalez misplayed in his attempt to turn an inning-ending double play.

With Fresno's 6-3 victory over Oklahoma City on Monday night, Sacramento remains 8.5 games ahead of the second-place Grizzlies in the Pacific Coast League South Division race. Patterson remained tied for the River Cats' single-season steals record at 39.
