LANSING, Mich. - Kevin Patterson drove in six runs with two swings, leading the Lansing Lugnuts (16-23) to their seventh win in nine games, a 9-2 victory over the Great Lakes Loons (14-27) on Saturday night at Cooley Law School Stadium.

The nine runs scored are the highest run total by Lansing this season and Patterson's six runs batted in are also a team season-high.

Patterson came to the plate in the first inning with the bases loaded and promptly cleared them with a double to the gap in right-center, driving in his first three runs to give Lansing a 3-0 lead. In the bottom half of the seventh inning, Patterson drilled a three-run homer out to right, putting the Lugs on top 8-2.

Over his last four games, Patterson has eight hits - including three home runs - and 11 RBIs.

With the ball flying out at Cooley, Dwight Smith, Jr. also hit a two-run homer in the second inning and Balbino Fuenmayor walloped a solo shot deep to left-center in the seventh.

The Lugnuts pitching staff continued its stretch of good outings as starter Daniel Norris threw four innings of one-run ball, giving up just three hits and striking out a season-high seven hitters.

Kramer Champlin (Win, 1-1), Griffin Murphy and Justin Jackson pitched five innings of relief to seal another win for the Lugnuts, allowing just a single run.

Great Lakes starter Ralston Cash (Loss, 2-3) struggled with his command, lasting only two innings in the loss. He allowed five runs on four hits with five walks and one lone strikeout.

Game three of the four-game series is set for a 2:05 p.m. first pitch on Sunday Kid's Day at the ballpark. The Lugs will send right-hander Javier Avendaño (3-2, 5.40) against Loons right-hander Jharel Cotton (1-2, 2.86).
