Pats Edge Red Deer on Teddy Bear Toss Night

Regina, Saskatchewan - The Regina Pats picked up a 3-2 win over the Red Deer Rebels on Teddy Bear Toss Night at the Brandt Centre on Saturday night.

The Rebels scored the games first goal, 4:12 into the first period, off the stick of Josh Tarzwell. The Pats drew even at 14:41 when Austin Pratt tipped in his 11th and sent 2,014 teddy bears flying onto the ice. The game stayed 1-1 after the opening 20 minutes. In the second, the Pats took their first lead 39 seconds in, Drew Englot tipped in his third to make it 2-1. Red Deer tied the game a short time later, but the Pats powerplay responded at 13:28. Ty Kolle snapped in his 11th from the left circle and Regina took a 3-2 lead to the third. Max Paddock did the rest in the third, stopping all 14 shots he faced, and the Pats took the two points in a 3-2 final score.

The Pats were outshot 28-24 in the win, the powerplay was one for three and the penalty kill three for three. Zach Wytinck led the offence with two assists, while Max Paddock made 26 saves.

The Pats (7-17-3-0) will return to action on Wednesday night at home to the Kamloops Blazers at 7 p.m. at the Brandt Centre.
