Last time they met: The Blades spoiled the Rockets' Teddy Bear Toss celebrations last year on December 1st, beating them in Kelowna in overtime 5-4. Former Blade & current UAlberta Golden Bear Dawson Davidson had a goal in regulation before sealing the win with an epic breakaway OT goal. Current Blade Tristen Robins also had a goal while Nolan Maier made 29 saves in net to end Saskatoon's biennial British Columbia road trip.
What it means the Blades: Starting up right where they left off last time they were in Saskatoon - with a win.
The stat: 1-0-0-0 - the Blades are currently undefeated against B.C. division teams having bested the only one they've faced, the Vancouver Giants, by a final score of 2-1 on Wednesday October 9th.
The match-up: Nolan Foote vs. Saskatoon's penalty kill - Rockets' forward Foote is one of the league's premier goalscorer and thus far through his year eight of his 14 goals have come on the power play. Shutting him down will pose a challenge for the Blades' PK units, who fell in league rankings during the team's U.S. trip. The Blades are the fourth most penalized club in the WHL among teams who have played 27 games or more, and you can bet cleaning up their discipline will be high on the team's agenda against Kelowna.
It's a big night for: Girls! Not just girls, actually, all women are being celebrated tonight for Girls Rock! Night with the Saskatoon Blades. Catch Saskatchewan local NASCAR Pinty's Series Driver Shantel Kalika on the concourse, and meet female athletes from the Saskatoon Valkyries & the University of Saskatchewan.
