Bridgewater, NJ- An RBI base hit by John Pachot in the bottom of the eighth inning broke a 3-3 tie and gave the Somerset Patriots a 4-3 victory over the Road Warriors before 6,799 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Wednesday night.
The Patriots jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. A fielder's choice followed by an error drove in Norris Hopper, who had singled to lead off the inning. Two runs came home on a bases loaded single to center by Matt Hagen.
The Road Warriors evened the score in the fifth after a double by Adrian Ortiz scored two runs. Ortiz then came around to score on a wild pitch for the 3-3 tie.
Patriots reliever Casey Cahill (1-0) got the win after pitching a scoreless inning and striking out one. Road Warriors reliever Eddy Ramos (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing the game-winning run during his one inning of work. Jeff Kennard picked up his second save of the season after tossing a scoreless ninth inning.
