Bridgeport Bluefish News Release

(Bridgeport, Conn. - July 27, 2011) - Solid pitching and timely offense led the Bridgeport Bluefish (8-3, 40-34) to their season-high seventh consecutive victory. Bridgeport took down the York Revolution (7-6, 43-33) by a score of 3-2 at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Wednesday.

In his first start as a member of the Bluefish, Wardell Starling pitched well but did not factor in the decision. The righthander delivered six innings and allowed two runs on the night. Chris Rivera (3-0) earned his second victory in less than a week. The righthanded reliever pitched two scoreless frames. Juan Rincon notched his 13th save of the season by shutting down the Revolution in the ninth.

Revolution starter, Shaun Garceau, served seven innings and gave up one run for the road team; but he did not pick up a decision. Sean Stidfole (2-3) suffered the loss as the righthanded reliever allowed two runs in two-thirds of an inning.

Bridgeport started the scoring in the first. With one out, Andres Perez was hit by a pitch. After a second batter had been retired, Perez stole second and scored on a Wes Bankston single to right to give the home team a 1-0 lead

York took their only lead of the night on a two-run drive by Chris Nowak in the seventh. The shot to left gave the Revolution a 2-1 advantage.

The Bluefish, though, had a response in the bottom of the eighth. Adam Greenberg singled to right and scored on a double to center by Andres Perez. The second baseman came home on a single to right by Moss to close the scoring.
