
Panthers Recall Markstrom, Rampage Sign Nolan to PTO

SAN ANTONIO (November 19, 2011) - Florida Panthers Executive Vice President & General Manager Dale Tallon announced today goaltender Jacob Markstrom has been recalled from the San Antonio Rampage (AHL). In addition, the Rampage has signed goaltender Rob Nolan to a professional try-out (PTO).
Markstrom, 21, returns to the Panthers after playing in five games with Florida to start the season. The netminder posted a 2-2-1 record with a .944 save percentage and a 2.05 goals-against average with Florida, including a Panthers-season-high, 40-save effort to earn the win Oct. 24 at Montreal. Markstrom stopped 29-of-31 shots in his first career NHL start Oct. 18 at Washington and earned his first career NHL win on Oct. 22 vs. the New York Islanders, turning away 18 shots in a third period relief appearance.
The Gavle, Sweden native has posted a 2-3-0 record with a 3.60 GAA and a .879 save percentage with San Antonio since being assigned to the Rampage Nov. 7. Markstrom was drafted by Florida in the first round (31st overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Nolan, 25, has appeared in eight games with the Chicago Express (ECHL) this season posting a 4-4-0 record with a 2.92 GAA and a .898 save percentage. The Sherwood Park, Alberta native backstopped 44 games for the Missouri Mavericks (CHL) last year tallying a 26-13-5 record with a 2.07 GAA and a .928 save percentage.
The Rampage continue their six-game road trip with a stop in Chicago tonight at 7 p.m. against the Wolves at Allstate Arena. San Antonio will wrap up a three-in-three tomorrow afternoon in Milwaukee before heading to Rockford and Abbotsford at the end of the week.
