Aeros Upend Stars

CEDAR PARK, Texas --- Four different Aeros recorded multi-point games and goaltender Dennis Endras made 24 saves as Houston upended the Texas Stars 5-1 Saturday at Cedar Park Center.

Casey Wellman, Chad Rau and Jeff Penner each registered a goal and an assist while Jon DiSalvatore chipped in with a pair of assists. Cody Almond and Carson McMillan also scored for Houston, which pulled within a point of first place in the West Division with the win.

The Aeros scored twice each in the first and second periods and added another in the third.

Almond's goal with 49 seconds left in the first period, his first of the season, held up as the game-winner. Wellman's goal was his 11th of the season and pulled him into second place among AHL goal scorers.

Tomas Vincour had the only goal for the Stars, a shorthanded tally that tied the game at 1-1 early in the opening period. Texas goalie Richard Bachman made 14 saves on 18 shots in two period of work. Tyler Beskorowany relieved Bachman in the third period and stopped six of seven.

The Aeros return to Toyota Center to take on Abbotsford at 5:05 p.m. Sunday. Fans are encouraged to bring their dogs to the game, or adopt one at the game, as part of Chilly's Pet Pals.
