Pair of Three-Run Homers Lead to Erie Doubleheader Sweep

The SeaWolves (21-13) swept a doubleheader from Harrisburg (21-15) on Thursday. Erie won game one 6-2 and game two 4-0.

In game one, Erie loaded the bases with none out in the first inning. Trei Cruz hit an RBI groundout to score the first run of the game. Chris Meyers brought home two more on a two-out single against Kyle Luckham, making it 3-0.

Garrett Burhenn started for Erie and made his Double-A debut. He allowed a solo home run in the first to Andrew Pinckney, cutting the lead to 3-1.

Harrisburg tallied an unearned run in the fourth on Brady House's sacrifice fly. He scored Dylan Crews, who advanced to third on Eliezer Alfonzo's throwing error.

The SeaWolves put the game out of reach when Jake Holton blasted a three-run home run in the seventh inning.

Burhenn (1-0) earned his first win by throwing five strong innings. He allowed one earned run, four hits, no walks, and he struck out four. Luckham (2-2) took the loss. RJ Petit recorded the final six outs to earn his first save.

In game two, Erie got off to a hot start in the second inning. With two on and two out against Todd Peterson, Erie catcher Christian Molfetta lined an opposite-field, three-run home run. His first home run as a SeaWolf made it 3-0.

Garvin Alston relieved Peterson in the second. Gage Workman, his first batter, reached on a fielding error by J.T. Arruda. He later scored an unearned run on a single by Hao-Yu Lee to make it 4-0.

Erie's pitching made the four runs stand up. Adam Wolf tossed three scoreless innings to begin the game. Angel Reyes threw three scoreless innings as well. PJ Poulin loaded the bases in the seventh but retired Dérmis Garcia to end the game.

Reyes (2-0) earned the win in relief. Peterson (0-1) took the loss in his Double-A debut.
