Paints take game two

John Martinez pitched seven innings for the Chillicothe Paints, and became the Frontier League's first 11 game winner as the Paints defeated the Grizzlies 13-3 Thursday night at GMC Stadium.

The Grizzlies are now 26-32. Chillicothe is 28-31.

The Grizzlies managed just five hits against Martinez and reliever Nick Cavanaugh.

Nick Szczur (3-3) started and suffered the loss. Szczur went just 3 1/3 innings, his shortest outing of the year, surrendering nine runs on 11 hits. He struck out one and walked one.

Eric Sansouci had one of the Grizzlies hits and the only RBI. He his his first professional home run with two outs in the seventh. Jimmy Reiter, Mike Breyman, Ben Margalski and Phil Warren each had hits for the Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies and Paints will play the rubber match of the three-game set Friday night at GMC Stadium. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
