
Wild Things take game two of series

Washington Wild Things News Release
The Washington Wild Things (35-24), presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, defeated the River City Rascals at T.R. Hughes Ballpark in O'Fallon, MO Thursday night. The victory puts Washington back in a tie with the Florence Freedom for first place in the East Division of the Frontier League.
The Wild Things scored four home runs, two in the first inning. Chris Carter had a home run and a triple against the Rascals (his fifth of the road trip). Pat O'Brien hit one home run and was hit twice during the game.
Matt Swope went four for four on the evening, with two home runs, 5 RBI, a double, a single, and a stolen base during the game.
Starter Brian Burks (8-2) gets the win, pitching five innings, allowing nine hits, five runs, striking out one and walking one. LHP Corey Ohalek went four innings to earn his first save of the season, allowing two hits, no runs, striking out three and walking one.
River City's starting pitcher Aaron Ledbetter suffered his first loss of the season to the Wild Things.
To date the Wild Things have scored 32 triples, just one shy of the league's all-time record.
Washington will wrap up this three-game set with the Rascals Friday when first pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. Eastern time. Air time on WJPA 95.3 F.M. and on www.msasports.net is 7:55 Eastern time.
