Evansville Otters News Release

Denver Stuckey singled in the bottom of this ninth inning to drive in Brian McKenna to give the Evansville Otters a walk-off win over the Rockford RiverHawks 5-4.

The RiverHawks scored two in the second inning on four straight hits to start the inning. The Otters came back with a run in the bottom half of the inning on Beau Blacken's first homer as an Otters, his 10th overall, to cut the Rockford lead to 2-1.

The Otters scored a pair of runs in the fourth to go up 3-2 as Trask Munoz and Jason Mann drove in runs. The game would stay that way until the top of the seventh when Nick Johnson ripped a two-run homer over the right field fence to make it 4-3 RiverHawks.

Evansville started the comeback trail in the eighth when Denver Stuckey reached on an error and was moved to second on a sacrifice. After Munoz struck out, Cole Hilt, who was pinch-hitting, bounced a ball to second that was juggled by Ashley Farr. The bobble was enough for Hilt to beat the ball to first for an infield hit and score Stuckey to tie the game at 4-4.

The Otters on it in the ninth when Brian McKenna reached on an error. He stole second and moved to third on another error, this an errant throw from RiverHawks catcher Gooby Gerlits. With two outs, Stuckey singled a bouncing ball through the middle, sending McKenna plateward for the 5-4 win.

Ryan Burnau (2-3) picked up the win in relief for the Otters. Curt Borland (1-3) lost it for Rockford.

The two teams will play the final game of the series tomorrow night as Chris Pillsbury will go for Evansville against Frank James for the RiverHawks.
