P-Bruins Fall In Overtime To Aeros 3-2

Houston, TX - The Providence Bruins fell to the Houston Aeros in overtime 3-2 Tuesday evening at the Toyota Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Aaron Slattengren and Martins Karsums. The 42-14-3-1 Atlantic Division leading P-Bruins are back in action Wednesday at the AT&T Center versus the San Antonio Rampage at 8:00 p.m. The P-Bruins will be hosting a road game party for the game at FiRE + iCE. Providence moves six points ahead of the second place Hartford Wolf Pack.

After a scoreless opening period, the Aeros got on the board at the 12:48 mark with the lone goal of the second period. Ryan Hamilton tallied his ninth goal of the season, with Joel Ward and former P-Bruin Marco Rosa picking up the assists.

In the third period, the P-Bruins tied the game at one at the 4:12 mark. With the Aeros power play expiring, Matt Hendricks sent the puck to Slattengren as he was coming right out of the penalty box. With a breakaway he waited for Houston goaltender Barry Brust to go down in his stance then shot the puck top shelf for his eighth goal of the season. Providence took their first lead of the game, while shorthanded at the 7:36 mark. Pascal Pelletier sent the puck from the right boards in front of the net where Karsums waited and scored his 15th goal of the season. With their net minder pulled and the extra attacker on the ice, the Aeros tied the game at two with 25.1 seconds left in regulation. Adrian Foster netted his 14th goal of the season with Paul Albers and Benoit Pouliot getting the assists.

In overtime the Aeros tallied the game winner at the 3:56 mark. Maxim Noreau scored his seventh goal of the season, while Pouliot and Eric Reitz had the assists.

Tuukka Rask stopped 39 of 42 shots for the P-Bruins, while Barry Brust made 32 saves for the Aeros. The P-Bruins were 0-for-3 on the power play and 6-for-6 on the penalty kill.

The Atlantic Division-leading P-Bruins continue their seven game road trip before returning to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, March 7 against the Binghamton Senators for T-Shirt Night at 7:05 p.m. Providence is also home Sunday, March 9 versus the Worcester Sharks for a Family Game at 4:05 p.m. Receive one ticket, hot dog and soda starting as low as $16.
