The Black and Gold ranked third in the East Division and 10th in the Eastern Conference, reaching the postseason for the eighth time in their 10-year history. Head coach Bill Armstrong's club has already departed for Brampton, Ontario, where they will face off with the Canadian Division's St. John's Maple Leafs in a best-of-three Qualifying Round series. Game 1 will be played at the Air Canada Centre, home of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs, on Wednesday, April 10th, while Game 2 will be played at the Brampton Sports Centre the next night. Should a deciding Game 3 be necessary, it will be played on Friday, April 12th at the Brampton Sports Centre. The puck drops for all three games at 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on WDDZ AM-550 and the Bruins' website, www.providencebruins.com.
If the Bruins advance to the next round, they will play a best-of-five series against their East Division rivals, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The Tigers captured the AHL's regular season championship with their 43-25-8-4 record (98 points), but the Bruins took the season series, 3-0-1-0.
