Flames Recall Defenceman Steve Montador

Calgary, AB - Calgary Flames Vice-President & General Manager Craig Button announced today defenceman Steve Montador has been recalled from the Saint John Flames and defenceman Dallas Eakins has been re-assigned to the Chicago Wolves.

Montador played in 67 games with Saint John this season recording 25 points (9 goals, 16 assists) and 107 penalty minutes. Montador made his NHL debut with Calgary this season on Friday, November 23rd in Buffalo posting an assist. He collected his first NHL career goal on January 8th against Garth Snow of the New York Islanders. In his six games with Calgary, Montador collected one goal and two assists with 24 penalty minutes. The Flames signed the Vancouver native as a free agent on September 5, 2000.

Eakins, a 35 year-old rearguard, played in 53 games with the Chicago Wolves this season posting 16 points (2 goals, 14 assists) and 58 penalty minutes. Eakins played in three games with Calgary posting four penalty minutes. In 120 NHL career games Eakins has posted nine assists and 208 penalty minutes. The Flames signed Eakins as a free agent on July 27, 2000. Eakins was Washington's 11th choice, 208th overall, in the 1986 Entry Draft.
