Providence Bruins News Release

Worcester, MA - The Providence Bruins were defeated by the Worcester Sharks tonight in the last game of the 2013-14 regular season.

In the first period, the game stayed scoreless despite many quality scoring chances by the P-Bruins. The P-Bruins were able to gain momentum throughout the period with strong and organized play. They also gained confidence from Subban who made some great saves to start the game strong.

The P-Bruins continued to apply affective offensive pressure in the middle period. However, the Sharks struck first at the 5:47 mark. Eriah Hayes managed to get his stick on a loose puck that slipped just pass the pad of Subban for his 12th goal this season. The game went 1-0 into the first intermission.

The P-Bruins struggled to find a good offensive attack in the third period. The Sharks battled hard in order to sustain the lead. At the 8:50 mark, a potential Sharks goal was under review delaying the rest of the game for several minutes. The initial "no goal" call was overturned as the Sharks were awarded the 2-0 tally with Travis Oleksuk scoring his 19th goal this season. Assists were awarded to Dan DaSilva and Sena Acolaste. It proved to be enough as the Sharks defeated the P-Bruins by a final score of 2-0.

The P-Bruins went 0-for-5 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill. Subban blocked 25 of 27 shots while counterpart Grosenick stopped 23 shots.

The P-Bruins will be back in action at the Dunkin' Donuts Center for the 2013-14 Calder Cup Playoffs! For the official home schedule and ticket information for all playoff home games please visit providencebruins.com.
