
P-Bruins Defeat Falcons 2-1

Springfield, MA - The Providence Bruins defeated the Springfield Falcons 2-1 Friday evening in a shootout at the MassMutual Center. The P-Bruins got their goal in regulation from Bobby Robins and their goals in the shootout from Calle Ridderwall and Jamie Arniel. The P-Bruins return to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, January 6 at 7:05 p.m.against the Portland Pirates for Kid's T-Shirt Night.
After a scoreless opening period, the P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead at the 12:22 mark of the second period. David Warsofsky had the puck at the point and worked it around the boards behind the net to Carter Camper. He fed it in front of the crease where it was picked up by Robins who scored his first goal of the season. The P-Bruins led 1-0 going into the second intermission.
Springfield tied the game at one at the 9:52 mark of the third period. Maksim Mayorov tallied his second goal of the season, while Brent Regner and Martin St. Pierre recorded the assists. The game headed to overtime tied at one.
After a scoreless overtime the game went into a shootout. Ridderwall scored in the first round and Arniel in the second round to give the P-Bruins a 2-0 advantage. Alexandre Giroux answered back with a goal in the second round for the Falcons. Neither team was able to score in rounds three through five as the P-Bruins went onto the 2-1 shootout victory.
Anton Khudobin stopped 39 of 40 shots in regulation and 4 of 5 shots in the shootout for the P-Bruins, while Manny Legace made 27 saves in regulation and three saves in the shootout for the Falcons. The P-Bruins were 0-for-2 on the power play and 5-for-5 on the penalty kill.
Providence wraps up their four game road trip Saturday at the Verizon Wireless Arena against the Manchester Monarchs at 7:00 p.m. The P-Bruins return to The Dunk Friday, January 6 for Kid's T-Shirt Night at 7:05 p.m. against the Pirates.
