Erie Otters News Release
The Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League announced this morning that they have selected defenseman Adam Pelech (22nd overall) and center Connor Crisp (31st overall) in the second round of the 2010 OHL Priority Selection being held today via the Internet and conference call.
Pelech comes from a strong pedigree, as his brothers Matt and Mike each enjoyed successful careers in the OHL and are currently playing professionally in the AHL and ECHL, respectively.
"My brothers are my biggest role models," Pelech said. "I hope to score and succeed like they did. It's awesome (to be drafted)."
A native of Toronto, Ontario, Pelech is described by OHL Central Scouting as "a defenseman that possesses a ton of upside. He has a huge frame, a when you take into account his long stick he has immediate range. He has shown that he can make the crucial first pass out of the zone." He tallied six goals and 28 assists in 60 games this season with the Toronto Marlboros.
Pelech was teammates on the Marlboros with Otters 2010 first round pick Chris Marchese. "I've been playing with (Chris) for four or five years," Pelech said. "He's a really good friend of mine and I'm excited to play him in the OHL."
Crisp, a native of Alliston, Ontario, scored 31 goals and added 37 assists in 60 games with the Express this season. OHL Central Scouting described Crisp as "the type of player that as the potential to develop into a very dynamic offensive forward. He possesses all the physical tools, has size, can skate and has a very good stick."
Like Pelech, Crisp to looking forward to beginning his OHL career with the Otters.
"It's an honor for sure," Crisp said. "Erie is a great organization and I'm excited to come down and see how things are going to go this season. "They have a great coaching staff and next year is going to be a great year for me."
