(TRAVERSE CITY, MICHIGAN) - The Evansville Otters swept the Traverse City Beach Bums on Thursday night with a 6-5 game one win and a 4-1 victory in the final game.

First baseman Nick Schwaner was 4-for-4 in game one including a two run home run. The Otters then utilized a three run rally in the second game to complete the sweep.

Both starters began the final game of the doubleheader with back to back scoreless innings. Evansville leapt ahead 1-0 on an RBI double from outfielder John Schultz in the third. Schultz reached base four times in his first games back from a thumb injury.

After Traverse City tied the game in the bottom of the third inning, Evansville surged for another rally in the fifth. Schwaner pushed Evansville ahead with an RBI groundout and designated hitter John Nester cracked a ground rule double to deep left field that scored two more runs.

Otters pitcher Matt Crim (1-1) threw five innings in the game without allowing any more runs. The Otters bullpen of Coty Saranthus and Ryan Zamorsky would pitch two hitless innings in relief to secure the second victory of the day.

After failing to win at Traverse City since June 2010, the Evansville Otters now have back to back wins at Wuerfel Park.

Evansville is now 12-2 in doubleheaders in the last two seasons.

The Otters improve to 3-3 with the wins as the Beach Bums drop to 2-4. The Evansville Otters will now return home for a three game weekend series against the Windy City Thunderbolts. It is Eastland Mall Memorial Day Weekend at Bosse Field with games scheduled for Friday, May 24 (6:35 pm CDT), Saturday, May 25 (6:35 pm CDT) and Sunday, May 26 (6:35 pm CDT).
