Evansville Otters News Release
Evansville, IN- The Evansville Otters professional baseball team has announced the signing of former University of Evansville left-handed pitcher Michael Greenhouse. Greenhouse will be the starting pitcher for the Otters tonight as they open a three-game homestand against the Windy City ThunderBolts.
Greenhouse appeared in 17 games for the Purple Aces in 2005, finishing with a 4-3 record and 4.86 ERA, striking out 52 batters in 66.2 innings. In four seasons at the University of Evansville, Greenhouse combined for a 12-16 record, one save, and a 6.03 ERA with 131 strikeouts in 222.1 innings.
Greenhouse was a 28th round draft pick by the Chicago Cubs last spring and pitched in 19 games for their Arizona League affiliate, posting a 0-3 record with one save, a 3.31 ERA, and 32 strikeouts in 32.2 innings.
Greenhouse takes the roster spot of left-handed pitcher Cody Blackard, who was placed on the Frontier League's injured list due to soreness in his elbow.
In other transactions, the Otters traded catcher Jason Mann to Windy City for their first round pick in the 2007 Frontier League draft and resigned right-handed pitcher Dustin Bolton. Bolton, who saw action in 13 games for Evansville in 2005, will get the start in Sunday's contest. In 28.1 innings last season, Bolton had a 2-2 record and 5.72 ERA.
The Evansville Otters were voted a Platinum Winner in the Evansville Courier & Press Reader's Choice Awards and Best Sporting Event by the readers of Evansville Living magazine in 2005.
