Erie, PA - A three point night by Greg McKegg was not enough for the Erie Otters, who lost to the Windsor Spitfires Friday night by the score of 4-3 at Tullio Arena.

The Spitfires grabbed a two-nothing lead on a pair of goals by Alex Khokhlachev in the first period. Nick Czinder scored on a wraparound 27 seconds into the second to give the Spitfires a 3-0 lead.

McKegg then found an open Mac McDonnell in the right circle and the right winger's wrist shot beat John Cullen on the blocker side to put the Otters on the board three minutes, 57 seconds into the second period.

The Otters would then capitalize on the game's first power play midway through the third on a great goal by McKegg. The Otters captain took the puck from behind his own net, weaved through the entire Windsor penalty kill and deposited a backhander around the left pad of Cullen to make it a 3-2 game.

Khokhlachev then set up Kerby Rychel with three and a half minutes remaining to give the Spitfires insurance, which would prove to be the game winner. Travis Wood scored with 11.1 seconds remaining on the power play with his third goal of the season.

The Otters were 2-for-2 with the power play, and were not shorthanded in the game. The previous time in which the Otters were not shorthanded in a game came almost a year ago, on November 12, 2010 in a 4-3 home loss to Saginaw.

Next up for the Otters is a four-game road trip that begins Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. in London against the Knights. Fans can listen to the game on Fox Sports Radio AM 1330 The Fan.

Red Cross Night is Saturday, November 19 at 7:00 p.m. when the Otters host the Guelph Storm. Bring winter clothes (jacket, gloves, hat, etc.) and get into the game for $2.00. All donations will go to the American Red Cross. For tickets, call 452-4857 or log on to ottershockey.com.
