Windsor Spitfires News Release
A night after competing for Russia in the Subway Super Series, Alexander Khokhlachev was at his best in Erie.
KoKo had two goals and a highlight reel assist as the Spits took a 4-3 decision over the Otters, in front of 3,252 at the Tullio Arena on Friday night.
The 18-year-old centre scored twice in a 3:43 span of the first period, staking the Spits to a 2-0 lead they wouldn't give up. Khokhlachev capped his outstanding night with a blind, behind-the-back pass to Kerby Rychel for the game winner and his team-leading 12th of the season.
Rychel also had a pair of assists and Nick Czinder had the other Spitfires goal.
MacKenzie Braid recorded his first point as a Spitfire and newcomer Brandon Devlin played a strong game in his Windsor debut, logging big minutes and a +2 rating.
Mac McDonnell, Greg McKegg and Travis Wood had the goals for Erie (3-14-0-0). McKegg's goal was an end-to-end rush on the powerplay that cut the Windsor lead to 3-2.
Wood rounded out the scoring with just 12 seconds left to play.
The Spits are right back at it on Saturday, as they take on the Ice Dogs in Niagara.
