Evansville Otters News Release
Evansville, Ind. - Evansville returned home for the start of a long home stand and they started it in a good way, capturing a 7-6 victory over River City.
The two teams exchanged three run first innings and it remained that way until the Otters pushed across two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth. River City came back to tie up the game with a run in the seventh and one in the eighth, but Evansville would retake the lead on a Tycen Povey sacrifice fly that plated Luke Hetherington. A short, tired Otters bull pen was able to fight through late innings struggles to pick up the win for Justin Smith (1-0).
Evansville returns to the field for game two of their series with River City in a Monday afternoon game with first pitch slated for12:05 CDT. Billy Phillips (0-2) will pitch for Evansville against Scott Fogelson (2-6) for River City.
