EVANSVILLE, IN – The Evansville Otters fought back from a 3-0 first inning deficit, but dropped their first game of the season 4-3 in 11 innings in game one of a doubleheader to the Chillicothe Paints.

The Paints scored three unearned runs off of Otters starter Jeremy Lewis. The Otters got two of the runs back in the bottom of the inning.

Evansville tied the game on an unusual play in the fourth. With two outs, Sean Flynn appeared to strike out on a check swing. The ball was dropped by Paints' catcher Scott Pickens. However, the appeal to the first base umpire was ruled no swing. Carlos Brackley sprinted home on the play trying to beat the throw to first on what was thought to be a dropped third strike. However, since the play was ruled no swing, the pitch was a ball and the play was live. Brackley was credited with a steal of home and the game was tied at three.

It would remain that way until the 11th inning. When Dustin Brisson reached on a catcher's interference call. He would later score on an error. The Otters put two men on in the bottom of the inning, but were unable to advance the tying run.

Chillicothe was leading game two of the doubleheader in the top of the third when rain came suspending action. The game will be resumed on June 25th. The Otters doubleheader scheduled for the 25th has now been moved to the 26th.

Evansville starts a three game series against Kalamazoo on Friday with Grant Williams taking the hill for the Otters.
