Last Chance For Rockford Idol Auditions

ROCKFORD, Ill. – Do you have what it takes to be a "Rockford Idol?" The Rockford RiverHawks are looking for contestants for "Rockford Idol" sponsored by Manley Motors and Al Grace Appliance.

Marinelli Field will host "Rockford Idol" semifinals Monday June 7th and every Monday night home game after that this season. The winners from each Monday will come back for the finals on Monday August 16th. The grand-prize winner wins two round-trip tickets anywhere TransMeridian Airlines flies.

Open auditions will take place at Al Grace Appliance, 811 West Riverside Blvd. in Rockford on Saturday May 29 from noon until 2 pm. Celebrity judges will pick contestants to compete at Marinelli during the season.

"This is an excellent opportunity to showcase some of Rockford's most talented and enthusiastic singers," RiverHawks general manager Mike Babcock said.

Marinelli Field will have a distinct "American Idol" flavor this season. Tiara Purifoy, a Beloit resident who was a contestant on the Fox program, will be a celebrity judge for the "Rockford Idol" finals on August 16th.

The RiverHawks return home Thursday June 3rd for a six-game home stand which will include the first "Rockford Idol" semifinal. The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 12th season. Weeknight and Saturday games begin at 7:05 p.m. Sunday games begin at 6:05.
