Otters and Wild Things Suspended by Power Outage

July 17, 2012 - Frontier League (FL)
Evansville Otters News Release

(WASHINGTON, PENNSYLVANIA) - b0 The Washington Wild Things led the Evansville Otters 6-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning when the game entered a light tower outage.

The contest will be suspended and continued on Wednesday morning at 11:05 a.m. EDT. That game will be followed with a seven-inning contest after that as well.

Evansville started out with the lead against starting pitcher Eric Blackwell. The Otters utilized back to back hits to begin the second inning and scored the first run on an RBI fielder's choice from outfielder Luis Uribe.

The Wild Things trailed by a run until the third inning, when Washington tied the game against Otters' starter Matt Crim. After a walk and a single, shortstop A.J. Nunziato hit a ground ball through the left side of the infield to tie up the score.

Washington then added another pair of runs in the fourth inning to go ahead 3-1.

Evansville had difficulty coming back against Blackwell as the pitcher retired nine straight batters at one point.

Ahead 3-1, the Wild Things scored three more runs in the seventh inning before a power outage struck most of the Washington, Pennsylvania area.

Power was not expected to be restored until at least 11:30 p.m. local time.
