Otters Add One, Release Two

June 19, 2009, Evansville, Ind. - The Otters made a flurry of roster moves beginning Tuesday, signing infielder Andre Liscinsky and releasing pitcher Brian Oates and outfielder Breeland Brown. Liscinsky, a 5'10, 175 pound shortstop, recently completed his collegiate career at Pace University in New York. He batted .305 in 50 games with nine doubles and 25 runs batted in. Liscinsky led the team with 60 hits and 30 runs scored. Prior to the trade, Otters' shortstops had a combined 6 hits in 23 games. Oates began the year as the Otters third starter, but struggled in each of his five starts. He finishes his Otters career with a 0-4 record and a 11.78 earned run average. In his last two starts, Oates allowed 16 earned runs on 19 hits in 7.1 innings. The Otters began 2009 with Billy Phillips, Sean Thompson, and Oates as the top three starters. All three have now been released. Brown, signed as a fourth outfielder last week with Jeremy Strack headed to the injured list, appeared in three games for the Otters, collecting one hit in seven at-bats. The Otters currently have one open roster spot with outfielder Jeremy Strack eligible to come off the injured list Sunday, June 21st.
