
Depleted Sliders Fall 10-1

Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti News Release
The Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti lost the series opener to the Lake Erie Crushers 10-1. The Sliders had their hands tied with Roberto Mena spraining his ankle, Jimmy Baker, and Sam DeLuca also unable to play.
Lake Erie took advantages of Slider miscues early scoring two runs in the first inning from an error and a walk to go up 2-0. A six run fourth inning for the Crushers helped seal the deal going up 8-0.
Midwest did scratch out one run off six hits. Newly acquired infielder Robbie Knapp had two hits in his first start with the Sliders. Knapp had a .267 average, four bombs, and nine RBI's starting the season with the Rockford Riverhawks.
The Sliders look to get some players back in the lineup as Mena is listed as day-to-day. DeLuca scheduled to join the team soon, and Baker is away on a family emergency.
"We're having to play players at different positions since we don't have all our players ready to go," Midwest manager Eric Coleman said.
Chris Nyman received the loss tonight for Midwest, while Paul Fagan earned his fourth win. Shannon Sprouse earned a save since he pitched the final three innings.
Tomorrow at 7:05, Midwest will throw southpaw Kyle Kearcher out in hope to even the series' against the Crushers.
