Lake Erie Crushers News Release

Avon, OH - The Lake Erie Crushers picked up right where they left off from Thursday's 10-1 win over Midwest as they bashed the Sliders with 17 runs on 21 hits in a 17-7 romp at All Pro Freight Stadium on Friday.

Just about everyone got into the act for the Crushers, but Luke Hetherington and Gordon Gronkowski were unstoppable. Gronkowski was 4-for-4 with his third homer of the season, along with a triple and four runs batted in. Hetherington was 4-for-5 with his third home run of the year as well along with a triple and three RBI. "When guys are getting on base in front of you like tonight, it gives me a great opportunity because you see better pitches," said Gronkowski.

Despite the lopsided final score, the game was tight for the first six innings as Midwest matched the Crushers run for run. Lake Erie finally pulled away with three runs in the bottom of the sixth and then six more in the eighth.

Josh Faiola allowed six runs on nine hits in five innings of work but thanks to the run support, he picked up his first win of the year. "I'm not happy with my performance but it's nice to finally get a ‘W' and not see a zero in that column," said Faiola. Rookie reliever Alberto Rolon worked the final three innings of the game to earn his first professional save.

Another rookie also reached a milestone on Friday as Crusher first baseman Eddie Tisdale recorded his first pro hit, a double, in the eighth inning. Tisdale would go on to score and in a second at-bat in the inning would also record his first RBI on a single.

The homestand comes to a close on Saturday for the Crushers as they take on the Sliders once again. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM.
