Aberdeen, MD - The Baltimore Orioles have announced today that fourth round draft pick, Trent Mummey has been signed and will play for the Aberdeen IronBirds to begin his pro career.

Mummey was a fourth round pick in this years draft by the Baltimore Orioles out of Auburn University. This past season as a junior for the Auburn Tigers he was named to the All-SEC first time. He was second on the team in batting average, hitting .366 to go along with 17 home runs and 54 runs batted in, despite missing the first 28 games of the season with a severely sprained right ankle. After his return Auburn went 25-11 and earned a #1 seed in the NCAA Baseball Regionals.

In his three-year career at Auburn, he batted .315, hit 36 home runs and had 199 runs batted in. He also had a career .983 fielding percentage and committed just two errors over the past two seasons.

Mummey is active for tonight's game against the Staten Island Yankees, but is not in the starting lineup.
