State College Spikes News Release

STATE COLLEGE - Fans made their voices heard during a month-long online poll, and on Friday night, the State College Spikes revealed that "Haymakers" was the winning name to be adopted as part of "What If Night" on Friday, August 27th at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

During the Spikes GameDay Show prior to the Spikes' 7:05 p.m. matchup against the Jamestown Jammers, General Manager Jason Dambach announced that Haymakers had defeated Anglers, Coalys and Furnace in the fan vote held on StateCollegeSpikes.com from May 12th to June 8th. Each of the four choices were runners-up in the original Name the Team contest back in 2005.

The Haymakers logo, designed specifically for "What If Night," will be featured on specially-designed jerseys, which will be worn by the players on August 27th and then auctioned off to fans in attendance that night. The Jersey-Off-The-Back auction is presented by Ameriserv Bank and all proceeds from the auction will benefit the Centre County United Way. "What If Night" will also let fans take a peek at how the world would be a different place if the Spikes were not the Spikes.

The Spikes are in their fifth season of providing Central Pennsylvania's Best Family Value, continuing on Thursday, July 1 with a 7:05 p.m. matchup against the Williamsport Crosscutters. Single-game tickets, season tickets, mini-plans, flex books and a variety of different group packages and experiences can now be reserved for the 2010 season by calling toll-free at (877) 99-SPIKES. Additional team and ticket information can also be viewed by visiting StateCollegeSpikes.com.
