ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Despite outhitting their opponent, the Omaha Storm Chasers (43-44) lost to the Rochester Red Wings (47-41) 3-0. The Red Wings now hold a 3-1 series edge and have clinched at least a series split.

Left-hander Austin Cox came out of the gate firing, striking out the first three batters to keep the scoreboard still.

In the second, Omaha juiced the bases with one out. First baseman Angelo Castellano started the rally with a single into left field before second baseman Gabriel Cancel followed the lead with a single into left field. In his Triple-A debut, third baseman Rubendy Jaquez loaded the bases with a walk. Omaha came away empty in the inning on a strikeout and a flyout.

Shortstop Iván Castillo started the third with a single and catcher José Briceño hit another grounder into the outfield and put runners at first and second with nobody out. A strikeout and double play would end Omaha's third scoring opportunity.

Omaha put the leadoff man on base for the fourth time in as many innings to start the game, this time with left fielder Jimmy Govern getting on base by way of a hit by pitch. Cancel hit another single into the outfield to put the first two baserunners on the bags with no outs for the second consecutive inning. Omaha again came up empty on a double play to end the inning.

The fifth inning, saw the Red Wings open the game's scoring with a two-run home run before capitalizing on a Storm Chaser error in the sixth to open a 3-0 lead.

Cox (Loss, 4-5) would end up going 5.2 innings and allowed three earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts.

The Storm Chasers were only able to put two runners on base in the final three innings, going down in order in the ninth to fall 3-0 to the Red Wings. The Chasers went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position, stranding 11 baserunners.

Omaha and Rochester will continue their series on Saturday with game five. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. CDT with coverage starting at 5:45 p.m. on 1180 The Zone.

Omaha returns home for a four-game series after the MLB All-Star break for a four-game series against the Iowa Cubs from July 22-55. The series will include Marvel's Defenders of the Diamond on July 22.
