ABOUT YESTERDAY: Jerad Eickhoff had another brilliant showing on Thursday afternoon, but the Indians offense went silent and the Clippers took game three of the six-game set, 7-0. Eickhoff tossed his second quality start in as many appearances, going 6.0 innings and surrendering only two runs. He allowed only three hits, but two of them left the yard. Will Benson gave Columbus an early lead in the third inning with a leadoff home run over the right-center fence to plate the games first run. Clippers starting pitcher, Peyton Battenfield, had the Indians on their heels all day with 8.0 shutout innings. Battenfield was perfect through 5.1 innings of work before Jared Oliva smacked a fly ball into center field to give Indy its first baserunner. With two outs in the sixth, Richie Palacios ripped a 2-2 pitch over the right field wall to make it 2-0. Despite Indy's struggles at the plate, the game was within reach up until the seventh. Eickhoff was replaced by John O'Reilly in the seventh before the Clippers broke the game open with a five-run burst. The Indians would only reach base four times on four singles and were shutout for the second time this season.

WE WENT TO JERAD: Indiana native Jerad Eickhoff is off to a strong start in July and has been a reliable arm for the Indians rotation. In two starts this month, the righty is 0-1 with a 2.08 ERA (3er/13.0ip) with only one walk and nine strikeouts. Despite two strong performances, the offense has only plated one run in his last two appearances - resulting in a no decision and a loss on Thursday. Yesterday's performance lowered his season WHIP to an impressive 0.99 with one-or-less walks in each of his last four starts. Each of his last six starts with Indianapolis have been for 5.0-or-more innings, and in those starts he is 3-1 with a 2.71 ERA (10er/33.2ip) with 27 strikeouts.

A WALK IN THE PARK: Hoy Park had one of Indy's four hits on Thursday afternoon and continued his liking for Clippers pitching. Park is hitting .382 (13-for-34) with a home run, two doubles and six RBI in 10 games against Columbus this season. In 42 plate appearances, he is reaching base safely nearly half the time with a .488 on-base percentage and seven walks. Park's splits against Columbus compared to the rest of the league are listed below:

Versus Columbus (10 games): .382 AVG, 1 HR, 6 RBI, 8 R, 3 2B, 7 BB, 8 K, .488 OBP

Versus Rest of League (32 games): .178 AVG, 1 HR, 7 RBI, 13 R, 2 2B, 23 BB, 33 K, .331 OBP

BLIGH IS THAT GUY: Bligh Madris has a hit in each of the three games against Columbus this week. He has hit safely in 36 of his 52 games played this season, good for a .300 batting average (54-for-180). He has picked up right where he left off with Indy after spending a month in Pittsburgh and making his MLB debut. Madris has hits in four of six games with Indy this month - including two multi-hit games. Prior to having his contract selected on 6/20, he had eight multi-hit performances in 16 June games.

BAE GETS ON BASE: Ji-Hwan Bae singled to right-center field in the ninth inning of yesterday's contest to reach base successfully for the eighth time in his last nine games. Bae has now reached base safely in 64 of his 75 games this season. His homer on Tuesday night put him up to eight home runs on the season, which ties his career-high for most home runs after he hit eight last season between Double-A Altoona (7) and FCL Pirates (1). Bae is the first Indians player to hit eight home runs and collect 20 stolen bases since Alen Hanson in 2016 (8 HR, 36 SB) and the seventh Indians player since 2005 to achieve this feat.

TICK TOCK: The trend of fast-paced action continued with the 2:13 conclusion of yesterday's game. Four of the last six games for Indy have finished under the two-hour and thirty-minute mark.

TONIGHT: The Indians will look to even the series against the Clippers at 7:05 PM ET. After yesterday's loss, the Indians still lead the season series 8-7, even though they have been outscored 101-74 over the 15 games. Seven of the 14 games in their season series have been decided by two runs or less. Tonight, Osvaldo Bido will take the mound for his 16th start with the Indians this season, tying him for the fourth-most games started by a pitcher in the International League this season. Columbus will counter with left-hander Adam Scott, who will make his fourth appearance (third start) against Indy this season. Scott has a 10.59 ERA (6er/5.1ip) in his previous three appearances against the Indians.

BIDO ON THE BUMP: Osvaldo Bido will take the mound Friday night for his 20th appearance and team-leading 16th start of the season. Bido is 1-5 with a 5.16 ERA (34er/59.1ip) and 57 strikeouts. In his last three appearances, he has 11 strikeouts and only four walks. Tonight will be his fourth appearance (third start) against Columbus this season. He owns a 2.50 ERA (2er/7.2ip) against the Clippers.

THIS DATE IN 1953: After all Indians catchers are injured, ticket office employee Tommy Dobkins suited up against St. Paul. He drove in the tying run to cap off a five-run Indians rally in the ninth inning, but St. Paul went on to win the game in 13 innings.
