Charlotte Knights News Release
(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - Chicago White Sox catcher Yasmani Grandal launched a solo home run -- his first on his major league rehab assignment -- but the Charlotte Knights dropped game four of the six-game series against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs by a score of 7-3 on Friday night at Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte. The loss was Charlotte's second in as many days after winning the first two games of the series.
Grandal continued his rehab assignment on Friday and went 1-for-3 on the night with the home run. His solo blast in the fourth inning was Charlotte's first run of the game. In four games with the Knights on rehab this week, Grandal has recorded six hits. He's hitting .462 with Charlotte.
RHP Lincoln Henzman (2-2, 4.50) started the game for the Knights and was charged with the loss after he allowed one unearned run on two hits over two innings of work. A total of seven pitchers were used by the Knights and the hurlers combined to allow seven runs on 12 hits in the game.
Lehigh Valley starter Michael Plassmeyer (2-0, 2.28) was sharp en route to his second win of the season. He allowed just one run on four hits over five innings. His only blemish was the home run by Grandal.
The Knights scored a second run of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning on an RBI single by first baseman Zach Remillard. One inning later, the Knights added a third and final run on an RBI groundout by second baseman Lenyn Sosa. In all, the Knights combined for six hits in the game four loss.
The two teams will continue the six-game series on Saturday at 12:05 p.m. from Truist Field. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad and long-time Knights broadcaster Mike Pacheco will have the call for all of the action on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte and www.CharlotteKnights.com.
