Bisons Fall to I-Cubs 3-1

Buffalo Bisons News Release
DES MOINES, IA - Despite a quality start by Thomas Hatch, the Buffalo Bisons fell to the Iowa Cubs 3-1 on Friday night from Principal Park. The two clubs have now split the first four games of this six-game series.
The Bisons' lone run came in the second when Logan Warmoth drove in Cullen Large with an RBI single. Despite a three-hit night for Otto López, the offence was never quite able to string together hits against Iowa lefthander Matt Dermody.
Dermody, who pitched in 28 games for the Blue Jays across 2016 and 2017, allowed just the one run over five innings without issuing a walk, and did so while facing exclusively right-handed hitters.
Hatch, meanwhile, begun his night by striking out the side, and went on to throw six innings while giving up three runs, no walks, and six punchouts; the only major mistake resulted in a three-run homer by Greg Deichmann in the fourth.
The Herd had their best opportunity to score in the eighth after loading the bases with one away, but stranded them all as Sean Newcomb completed his third scoreless inning of relief.
Kyle Johnston and Matt Gage each pitched a scoreless inning to keep the game within two, but the Herd went down against Erich Uelmen in the ninth to end the game.
The Bisons and I-Cubs will play the penultimate game of this series tomorrow night, with first pitch set for 7:08 p.m. EST.
