
Quality Start by Plassmeyer leads IronPigs to Win

(Charlotte, N.C.) - Michael Plassmeyer (2-0) turned in his second straight quality outing as he led the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (47-41) to a 7-3 win over the Charlotte Knights (33-55). In addition to Plassmeyer's quality outing, Chris Sharpe turned in his second straight three-hit game.
Sharpe gave the 'Pigs a 1-0 lead against Lincoln Henzman (2-2) in the top of the second inning as he hit an RBI double that scored Rafael Marchan. The IronPigs extended their lead to 2-0 against Yoan Aybar in the top of the third inning as Dustin Peterson singled in Nick Maton.
Yasmani Grandal homered against Plassmeyer in the bottom of the fourth inning to get Charlotte on the scoreboard, 2-1. It would be the only run Plassmeyer would all through five innings pitched. The 'Pigs scored three runs against Kade McClure in the top of the fifth inning to take a 5-1 lead. Will Toffey hit an RBI double that scored Drew Maggi and Peterson hit a two-run single that scored Maton and Toffey.
Charlotte scored a run against Ryan Sherriff in the bottom of the seventh inning as Zach Remillard hit an RBI single that scored Tyler Neslony. Remillard was then ejected from the game after being thrown out trying to extend the single to a double. Ali Castillo gave Lehigh Valley a 7-2 lead as he hit a two-run single against Yacksel Rios that scored Marchan and Sharpe.
The Knights scored their third run of the game against Jace Fry in the bottom of the eighth inning as Mark Payton scored on a groundout by Lenyn Sosa. Fry's 7 1/3 scoreless inning streak came to an end in the inning.
Braeden Ogle and Nick Duron each pitched a scoreless inning of relief.
The IronPigs and Charlotte Knights continue their series on Saturday afternoon at Truist Field. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 p.m.
