(Omaha, Neb.) - The Omaha Royals ownership change is official. The agreement between Spikes LLC, under the direction of its Managing Member Matt Minker, and Power Alley LLC, under the direction of its Manager Bill Shea, has been approved by the Pacific Coast League, Minor League Baseball and the Office of the Commissioner of Major League Baseball. This process has been in the works since February, when the pending transaction was submitted for approval.

Power Alley LLC will now hold the general partnership interest and certain limited partnership interests in the Omaha Royals, with Warren Buffett and Walter Scott remaining as limited partners. Terms of the transaction were not publicly disclosed.

"Omahan's are going to see some changes in the energy and marketing of the Omaha Royals, and our management team is excited about building on Omaha's interest in Triple-A baseball. It's where fans can see the next generation of baseball stars right at home," said Bill Shea.

Shea also explained his management team from Ivy Walls Management Company, LLC, headed by Alan Stein and Sandra Noble Canon, has been actively engaged in advising the Omaha Royals during the current season pending the final approval of the transaction.

"To celebrate the signing of our agreement we have implemented some fun, family-friendly activities that will be new to the Royals' fans," according to Stein.

Stein said some big changes include lower food prices, the addition of community nights to celebrate the not-for-profit work of the community, expanded Omaha Royals' merchandise, and lots of activities on the field and with Casey, the Royals mascot.

Also, starting June 30th, the Royals will begin surveying fans (12 and over) who come to home games. The first person to complete the survey June 30th will throw out the first pitch that night, the first 100 to complete the survey will receive a free hot dog and everyone who completes a survey between June 30th and July 31st will have their name put in a drawing to be the owner for a night on August 8th. The winner will spend the evening with Bill Shea at the ballgame. The winner will also receive a parking pass, be in the owner's box complete with food and beverages, have the opportunity to meet players and coaches, throw out the first pitch, and lots of other extras.

The newest Omaha Royals' program is the Community Organization of the Night. Each home game will feature a community-based, not-for-profit organization whose impact is felt in the community. The organization will be given display space in the plaza area, have an opportunity to talk to fans during the pre-game activities, and spend a half an inning on the radio with Royals broadcasters, Mark Nasser and Kevin McNabb.

"These organizations are so dedicated to the community and we wanted to be able to share their successes with others in Omaha. The response has been outstanding and we will continue to expand these relationships in the future," said Doug Stewart, senior vice president and general manager for the team.

The Omaha Royals, a fixture in the community for over 35 years, provide quality, family-oriented entertainment at a family-friendly cost. A member of the prestigious Triple-A Pacific Coast League, about 300,000 fans currently attend Royals games each year. Omaha is one of just thirty top-tier cities to play host to Triple-A baseball (other cities include Sacramento, Memphis, New Orleans, Austin and Portland). The Omaha Royals are an affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.
