Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Albuquerque Isotopes infielder Scott Seabol will represent the 'Topes at the 2006 Triple-A All-Star Game in Toledo, Ohio, after being elected by vote of Pacific Coast League managers, media, and for the first time ever, Triple-A baseball fans worldwide.

Seabol, who is third in the Pacific Coast League with 17 homers to go along with a superb .314 average and 46 RBI, will be the starting third baseman for the PCL squad in the 19th annual Triple-A Midsummer Classic, pitting all-stars from the Pacific Coast League against their counterparts in the International League. This year's contest is taking place on Wednesday, July 12th at Fifth Third Field in Toledo, Ohio, home of the IL's Toledo Mudhens. Seabol will also take part in the annual Triple-A Home Derby on Monday, July 10th.

In addition to ranking among the League's leaders in homers, the infielder is third in the PCL in slugging percentage with a mark of .607 and fourth in extra-base hits with 36. His performance in the month of May goes on record as being one of the PCL's best ever, as Seabol belted 15 dingers in the month, tying a League record set by Hall of Famer Tony Lazzeri, who hit 15 for the Salt Lake Bees in September, 1925.

This will mark Seabol's first career Triple-A All-Star game and the infielder will have plenty of friends and family in attendance. Toledo is mere hours from his hometown of McKeesport, PA, near Pittsburgh.

Seabol will be the fifth Isotopes player to participate in the big game, which will be televised nationally on ESPN 2, joining outfielder Robert Stratton, who earned the honor in 2003, infielders Joe Dillon and Larry Sutton, who each were elected in 2004, and relief pitcher Jim Crowell, who took part last year. Seabol joins Stratton, who won the event in 2003 in Memphis, as the only 'Topes to participate in the home run derby.

The 'Topes continue their eight-game homestand with an action-packed Independence Day celebration weekend at Isotopes Park, site of next year's Triple-A All-Star Fiesta. On Friday, June 30, the 'Topes will be giving away T-Shirts before welcoming Birdzerk! to Isotopes Park on Saturday, July 1. On July 2 and July 3 the team will be featuring back-to-back fireworks displays and will be sporting special patriotic jerseys that will be auctioned off with proceeds benefiting United Way of Central New Mexico. Berm seating for the July 3rd contest is available now exclusively at the Isotopes Park box office. Tickets are available at the Isotopes Park Box Office, Ticketmaster outlets and on-line at www.albuquerquebaseball.com. For details, please call (505) 924-2255.
