HEADLINES: RedHawks drop 5th straight ... Danks starts tonight ... Volquez named to PCL All-Star team

TODAY'S OPPONENT: The Round Rock Express are the Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. They have been a member of the Pacific Coast League since 2005. The franchise re-located from Edmonton following the 2004 season. Round Rock is located about 18 miles north of Austin, Texas.

TODAY'S GAME: The RedHawks complete their nine-game homestand against Round Rock. This is their 79th game this season, 40th home game and 12th game against Round Rock. The RedHawks start a four-game road trip in New Orleans tomorrow. They return home for a six-game homestand July 4-9.

LAST GAME: Oklahoma scored three runs in the eighth inning, but lost 8-7 to Round Rock. Jason Hart hit his sixth home run of the season and had two RBIs for Oklahoma. Drew Meyer broke out of an 0-for-26 slump by going three-for-five with two runs scored for Oklahoma. Round Rock was led by Luke Scott, who went two-for-five with a double and two RBIs. The Express had five doubles and a home run in the game.

VS. ROUND ROCK: The RedHawks are 8-19 all-time against Round Rock and 4-11 in Oklahoma City. The RedHawks have lost seven games in a row against Round Rock and have not had the lead in the last six against the Express.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Starting pitcher and Round Rock, Texas, resident John Danks makes his second start of the season for the RedHawks. Danks attended Round Rock High School where he led his team to the Texas 5A state finals his senior year. He is Texas' No. 2 prospect according to Baseball America. He gave up no runs on one hit through five innings in his first RedHawk start June 24 vs. New Orleans. However, he gave up three runs, two earned, without recording an out in the sixth. Brandon Backe will make a rehab start for Round Rock.

STREAKERS: Outfielder Anthony Webster has hits in his first seven games as a RedHawk. He is 9-for-24 (.375) with three RBIs in his first seven games. Relief pitcher Jose Diaz has not given up a run in his last nine appearances (14 innings). He has given up three hits, eight walks and struck out 16 in his last nine outings.

EDINSON VOLQUEZ: Pitcher Edinson Volquez has been selected to represent the RedHawks in the 2006 Triple-A All-Star Game. The game will be played July 12 in Toledo, Ohio. Volquez currently leads the PCL in strikeouts with 99.

JOAQUIN ARIAS: Shortstop Joaquin Arias has been selected to play in the 2006 XM Satellite Radio All-Star Futures Game. The game will be played July 9 in Pittsburgh, Pa.

STARTING PITCHERS: In the last 28 games, Oklahoma starters have nine wins. They have given up 52 runs, 45 earned over 161.2 innings (2.51 ERA) with 62 walks and 131 strikeouts. RedHawks starters have 16 quality starts in the last 28 games.

HOME SWEET HOME: Going back to July 22 of last season, the RedHawks are 42-22 (.656) at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark including 1-1 in last year's playoffs against Nashville. They are 41-21 (.661) at home in regular season games since July 22.

CLOSE GAMES: Thirty-one of Oklahoma 's 38 wins this season have come by four runs or less, including 17 one-run wins. Also, 32 of Oklahoma's 40 losses this season have come by four runs or less. They have 11 losses by one run, nine losses by two runs, six losses by three runs and six losses by four runs.

RADIO UPDATE: The RedHawks' flagship station for most games is KEBC 1340 AM. However, there are a few dates the flagship station will change due to scheduling conflicts. The RedHawks will be on AM 1000 KTOK July 1 and 8.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY: The RedHawks are in the process of building a home for Habitat for Humanity. On Monday, July 26, several RedHawks players helped with the build. The home will be presented to a local family July 4.

TRANSACTIONS: Pitcher R.A. Dickey has been placed on the DL (shoulder) ... P Josh Rupe has been activated from the DL (elbow) and optioned to Oklahoma ... IF Marshall McDougall has been released.

DOT-DOT-DOTS: RedHawks pitcher Edinson Volquez leads the league with 99 strikeouts ... The RedHawks' current five-game losing streak at home is the longest of the season ... The RedHawks are 27-18 since Mike Boulanger took over as manager May 11 ... Former RedHawks Ryan Ludwick (Toledo), Chad Allen (Omaha), Matt Roney (Sacramento) and Chris Baker (Round Rock) have been selected to the Triple-A All-Star Game.
