
RedHawks' Volquez named to All-Star team

Oklahoma RedHawks pitcher Edinson Volquez has been named to the Pacific Coast League All-Star team.
The 2006 Triple-A All-Star Game between the Pacific Coast and International Leagues will be played July 12 in Toledo, Ohio. Volquez is the only RedHawk on the current PCL All-Star roster.
Volquez is Texas' No. 1 prospect according to Baseball America. He is 4-5 with a 3.31 ERA in 16 starts for the RedHawks this season. In his last four starts, he is 1-0 with a 0.35 ERA (1 ER/26 IP), 12 walks and 33 strikeouts. He currently leads the PCL in strikeouts with 99.
Volquez's next scheduled start for the RedHawks is Sunday, July 2 at New Orleans.
Former RedHawks Chris Baker (Round Rock), Matt Roney (Sacramento) and Chad Allen (Omaha) were also named to the PCL All-Star team Thursday. Former RedHawk Ryan Ludwick (Toledo) was named to the IL All-Star team Wednesday.
